Meet Claudio Mendes
I am a psychotherapist and supervisor accredited by BABCP, BACP and IPT UK.
Over the past 16 years, I’ve supported adults facing a wide range of emotional, relational and identity-related challenges.
My experience spans the NHS, probation, bereavement services, multicultural counselling organisations and mental health charities.
My style is calm, transparent and collaborative. In sessions, we explore patterns in thoughts, emotions and relationships, while also developing strategies that help you cope, make decisions and navigate challenges more confidently.
I draw on psychoanalytic, interpersonal and cognitive-behavioural approaches, integrating elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) when useful. This allows the work to be reflective, practical and tailored to you.
I believe therapy is a powerful creative process that is also thoughtful and focused. Like an alchemical process, two people come together in a real human relationship that allows for uncertainty, difference, and connection. Through exploration and insight, we can develop a clearer understanding of ourselves and make changes from a deep and secure place, rather than relying on a quick or superficial fix.
My own experience in therapy is what led me to this work. It showed me the relief that comes from being understood, and the impact of having space to reflect with someone who is consistent and attuned.
Away from work, I try to keep my life simple: gardening for wildlife, spending time with friends and furfriends, diving into a cheeky box-set or going to the cinema, often on my own, which is a quiet pleasure for me. These moments help me stay grounded and connected to the world outside the therapy room.
